I recently moved back to Los Angeles, after a 12 year stint living in New York City. While in New York, I wholeheartedly immersed myself in the culture of the city. From the jazz scene to operas at Lincoln Center, from small Off-Broadway shows in the Village to performances on The Great White Way, from intimate Cabaret venues to massive concerts at Madison Square Garden. I basically tried to go see as much as I could, whenever I could.
After moving back to Los Angeles, I was worried that I would not be able to find the kind of quality that I had grown accustomed to in New York. I’m happy to say that I was mistaken. The Performing Arts, and especially theatre, is thriving in the southland. The only difference is that Los Angeles is not the small island of Manhattan and one has to venture a little further at times to find those gems. But it all exists in La La Land and the surrounding cities and I’m still finding terrific new venues and productions all the time.
This site will serve as my guide to the performing arts in and around Los Angeles. I will post my reviews and recommendations. Keep in mind that everything posted on this site reflects my opinions. Feel free to comment and share your reviews and opinions, even if they differ from mine. I welcome all views and look forward to sharing the Los Angeles Performing Arts experience with everyone!
